Educational Visits At The Farm

Bring learning to life with curriculum-linked visits to our family-run fruit farm near Tamworth. Children explore where food comes from, pick their own strawberries to take home and gain hands-on understanding across science, geography and sustainability.

We are proud members of LEAF Education, supporting young people to learn about food, farming and the countryside through inspiring educational activities.

Manor Farm Fruits offers curriculum-linked educational visits, giving children the chance to step out of the classroom and bring learning to life through real-world farming experiences. Set in the countryside near Tamworth, our family-run farm has been growing soft fruit for over 50 years and we’re passionate about helping children understand where their food comes from.

Our visits are carefully structured and well organised, supporting Key Stage 1 learning across science, geography, PSHE and sustainability. Children gain a practical understanding of how food is grown, the role of pollinators and the journey from field to fork, all within a safe, supervised outdoor environment.

Each visit combines guided activities, exploration and discussion, with plenty of opportunities to see, touch, taste and ask questions along the way. Pupils will also have the opportunity to pick their own strawberries to take home, making the learning experience both memorable and meaningful.

With risk assessments provided, undercover areas for lunch and experienced staff leading the day, we aim to make planning your school trip straightforward and stress-free.

Join us on our working fruit farm for hands-on Home Educated Sessions, where children can discover how fruit grows, where food comes from and how we care for wildlife and the environment. After the guided session, families can relax while children play and explore — the perfect opportunity to connect with other home educating families, share experiences and enjoy a friendly sense of community.

Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended. Our Home Educational sessions are available to book on line here.

How long does a typical visit last?

Most schools visit from 10am to 2pm, giving you a full four-hour experience with plenty of time for activities, lunch and play. We can be flexible with timings if you need to arrive or leave at different times – just let us know when booking.

What happens if the weathers bad?

We have undercover polytunnels where you can have lunch and shelter if needed and much of the strawberry picking takes place under cover too. We're a working farm, so we're used to all weathers! We'll only cancel in extreme conditions and we'll work with you to rearrange if that happens.

Do you provide risk assessments?

Yes, risk assessments are available and will be sent to you once your booking is confirmed. This makes your planning process much easier and gives you everything you need for your own trip paperwork.

Can you cater for children with allergies or additional needs?

We ask you to bring your own packed lunches, so you have full control over what the children eat. If any pupils have additional needs or require specific support, let us know when booking and we'll do everything we can to make sure they have a brilliant day on the farm.

What should children wear and bring?

Sturdy footwear is a must – wellies or old trainers work best as the farm can be muddy. Sun hats and sun cream in sunny weather and a waterproof coat just in case. Each child should bring a packed lunch and a drink. We'll provide everything else, including punnets for strawberry picking.
